Isinglass Equestrian Center

Challenge – Lack of onsite indoor riding space
Solution – Hercules Truss Arch Building
Size – 100′ wide x 240′ long
Application – Indoor riding arena

Brandon Vore and his wife, Sarah, built Isinglass Equestrian Center, a hunter/jumper training facility, to fulfill their family’s lifelong dream. Out of Brandon and Sarah’s five children, three have taken up riding, following in the footsteps of their mother who was a competitive equestrian as a student at Yale University. One issue the Vores had with their facility was that there was no indoor riding space to keep the horses in shape during inclement weather. Says Brandon, “Our family was driving almost forty miles per day to a small, dark, dusty indoor arena.” They needed an arena of their own and turned to ClearSpan Fabric Structures for a solution. After competing in a similar structure, the Vores decided to look into fabric structures for their equestrian center.

Isinglass Equestrian Center now has a 100′ wide by 240′ long Hercules Truss Arch Building that is not only an indoor arena, but home to four transitional stalls for training horses. Inside the building, the Vores also have about a dozen professional jumps so that they can school horses over a variety of different courses. Brandon is very happy with his new arena. “We love the bright and airy interior that our building offers when compared to typical metal and truss arena designs. It is always light because the top of the building catches the earliest and latest sun each day, reflecting it down into the riding space.” He continues, “The structure is ideal for our application. The temperature is always comfortable as the wind is completely absent, and the ceiling height draws away excess heat.”

The Vores are able to use the building for so much more than they originally anticipated. “During the worst winter weather, when my children have cabin fever, we can take them out to the arena to play. The riding center becomes the world’s largest climate-controlled sandbox, playground and gymnasium. When looking at a ClearSpan building, consider all possible usages for the space, but know that you will still find unexpected ways to enjoy this structure.”

Brandon knew he would love the light, airy, clean aspects of his new arena, but the atmosphere inside is even better than he had hoped. He explains, “Most buildings have low ceilings, allowing dust to rise and settle on the rafters. ClearSpan completely eliminates this issue. Our building is always bright with no dark corners, and looks as clean and pristine as the day it was erected.”

The Vores also found an advantage of fabric covers that they weren’t expecting. “I can hear my other children playing outside while I am inside riding. It is fantastic to not have to worry about them, because I can hear them through the walls!” Brandon concludes, “If I had to make this decision again, I would do absolutely nothing different. We are thrilled with our ClearSpan building!”
