Accessory FAQs
How do custom door systems integrate into pre-engineered buildings?
Custom door integration depends on the type and size of the door system. Standard roll-up doors and personnel doors are supported using secondary framing. Heavier options, like hydraulic or bifold doors, require more robust bracing systems to support additional weight and operational forces. Door dimensions should be finalized during design to ensure proper structural support.
What door systems does ClearSpan offer (bi-fold, hydraulic, roll-up)?
ClearSpan offers multiple door systems designed to support different building types and access needs. Available options include bi-fold doors for large, high-clearance openings, steel roll-up doors for efficient vertical operation, overhead doors for vehicle and equipment access and retractable fabric doors for wide, flexible entryways. Personnel doors are also available for safe everyday access, with door selection customized based on building size and application. Additionally, ClearSpan offers large, fabric-gathering doors for a cost-effective option that provides a bigger entry way.
Can ClearSpan install doors for oversized machinery and aircraft?
Yes, ClearSpan can design and install oversized doors to accommodate large machinery and aircraft. These door systems come in a variety of sizes to meet wide and tall opening requirements, and they are commonly integrated into clear-span structures to allow unobstructed equipment or aircraft movement. Door selection and configuration are built to align with the building frame, intended use and operational clearance needs.
How does ClearSpan handle integrated mezzanines or overhead cranes?
ClearSpan takes into account all necessary loads and movement when designing structures to handle integrated mezzanines or overhead cranes. This includes, but is not limited to, live load, dead load and deflection criteria. Buildings can be outfitted with additional support beams and columns to better support specialty systems.
What ClearSpan accessories are recommended for lighting in large warehouses?
ClearSpan primarily recommends LED lighting fixtures for large warehouses, as they provide high output, energy efficiency and a long service life. LED fixtures can also be outfitted with wire guards to protect against impact or equipment damage in busy industrial environments. In fabric-covered buildings, ClearSpan structures allow natural daylight to pass through the cover, which can significantly reduce the need for artificial lighting during daytime operations.
Can ClearSpan integrate solar panels or skylights into their structures?
Yes, ClearSpan’s Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMBs) can accommodate both solar panels and skylights. Solar panels are typically provided by the customer, but ClearSpan can supply and integrate skylights to bring natural light into the space. In fabric-covered structures, the translucent cover itself often ensures ample daylight, without the need for traditional skylights.
